Glossary

Filianism does contain its own lexicon, and as such a glossary is most helpful for understanding the definitons and pronunciations.

Athamë

(ah-THAH-muh)- the antithesis of thamë; see thamë

Avala

(AH-vah-lah)- The resting point in the afterlife, of the Daughter, where souls still bound to werdë will go until they reincarnate again. Often envisioned as an apple orchard, or otherwise calm and serene place of rest.

Hera

(HEH-rah) - An enlightened soul, spiritually advanced, and classically (within Filianism) able to perform miracles. The plural is helati (HEH-lah-tee).

Janya

(JANE-yuh) - an aspect of Dea, divine and beneficent being. Madrianism originally used Genia, which points to the Latin 'Genius', a tutelary divine spirit. Plural is Janyati (JANE-yah-tee).

Kear

(Keer) - a flaw, or a crack, connotating a divide between one and Dea. Not fully cognate with the concept of sin, not fully cognate with Dharmic (Buddhist) 'Dhukka', which refers to suffering, but best conveyed using both terms.

Keres

(KEER-eez) - Evil entities, demons.

Kyria

(KYE-ree-uh) - honorific meaning 'Lady' given to the Daughter, to denote her salvific relationship with us.

Madria

(MAH-dree-uh) - title given to Filianic priestesses, derived from Latin 'mater', which means mother.

Sai

(Sigh) - honorific given to both janyati and helati, meaning 'holy'.

Thamë

(THAH-muh) - when capitalized, it is to denote the divine order, or divine harmony, the divine Law. When lowercase, it means right or proper, or harmonious, conduct of a person or persons.

Werdë

(WURD-uh) - Fate or destiny of a soul, due to choices made. Derived from Old English 'wyrd'.
