Filianism has its own 13 month calendar, with five seasons; Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Moura.
"For there are ways and rhythms in the course of life, of day and night, of seasons and the moon, by which all life, all thought, all work are governed..." (Teachings 6:3)There are certain themes and festivals that take place within each season, and the year can be divided into a Mother half and a Daughter half. By aligning with the seasons and its rhythms is to bring oneself back to the rhythm of Nature, and closer to Dea.
Filianism ascribes a theme and an element to each season, as follows:
The four longer seasons reflect double principles of the Mother or the Daughter, and either internal or external:
The internal principle looks at the self, the external at the world. The Mother principle is stable, active, transcendent; the Daughter principle is transforming, passive, immanent. Of course, all four principles operate all the time, but the rhythm of nature continually shifts their relationships and relative prominence.
The thirteen months of the year have their own names as well, and the year begins on March 21 of the secular year. Which day of the week this falls on, will dictate the Janya of the year.
Each month consists of 28 days, and there are 1-2 days out of the year called Hiatus in between the ending of the last year and the start of the next year, depending on if the year is a leap year or not (one day of Hiatus for a regular year, two days for a leap year). This intercalary period is to signify the loss of time when the Daughter lies in death on the World Pillar.
There is a print calendar available, and can be purchased here, or if you use the contact form you can request a pdf version. Note; this was created using the alternative name for Culverine which is Columbina, otherwise the calendar is the same.
